THE MUSH ROOM
Design Studio undertaken at The Parsons School of Design, New York
A uniquely triangular site in Williamsburg, Brooklyn becomes the home to a mycelium (mushroom brick) factory.
The biological facade exhibits the structural possibility of the product itself to the neighborhood, rising above surrounding saw tooths and ultimately redefining the manufacturing process.
Based on the exploration of the light/dark requirements for mycelium growth, this project was undertaken in collaboration with lighting designer, Gisbel Videla.
